Originally founded by Chris Bagalwa to marry his passions for leatherwork and engineering, Binja products aim to capture the spirit of Africa and invites everyone to take a piece home with them. 

The name Binja itself captures the essence of Africa – derived from the Congolese language Mashi and synonymous with beauty: the very reason the company was founded. Though Africa has been known to symbolise struggle, war and inequality, Binja aspires to change that narrative through the stories told by our indigenous and authentic designs: showcasing the richness of the cradle of humanity.

Binja products are a celebration – showcasing Africa’s rich heritage, spectacular and varied cultures and the warm hearts of its people. Classic and timeless, but functional and eye-catching. All Binja products are lovingly handcrafted using locally-sourced leather and other materials, both hand and machine-stitched.
